If you are a member of the Auto club, use their planning, with all the listed Hotels, and Motels. Plus with your card, you can get a 10% discount at most of their Motels.

Luckily there are hundreds of Hotels, Motels, on that route, so it shouldn't be that hard to find places.

The AAA will help you plan your trip, and let you know if there is some areas, where it would be well to book in advance or not.

Then perhaps, you can book via one of those on line, hotel sites.
not too bad, its the end of summer... you should be fine... if you're worried about money... check out hostels for a cheaper price, and they should have good availability not to mention you meet other travellers... if you want a place to stay for free... check out http://hospitalityclub.org ive hosted about 30+ people and ive been hosted around the world and i love it!
yeah it think if you go now or in the winter the hotels and everything will be cheap hey my birthday is in August 22
If you're a AAA member, plan your driving trip through them. They can provide you with hotels, diners, etc. along the way and will usually give some information about them.
