Also, should be book all 7 nights at once, or should we only book 1 night in case we don't like the hotel. Will we probably be able to extend 6 more nights after we arrive? Is it better to stay in a hotel near Maingate East or Maingate West at DisneyWorld?
Maingate East in more central to everything, IMO. It's really close to Old Town, which has lots of restaurants and shopping.
Also, book 7 nights..especially at this time of the year. You probably won't be able to get 6 additional nights.
Be sure to read http://www.tripadvisor.com for recent reviews and stuff about the place from people who have actually stayed there. Is it better to stay in a hotel near Maingate East or Maingate West at DisneyWorld?
Victoria's answer is right on!
I second that Trip Advisor's Hotel Reviews are a good way to read about an Orlando Hotel beforehand. Understand that all reviews are not correct ~ some are from trolls. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g34515鈥?/a>
(Also visit the Orlando Forum to read older posts ~ or sign up and ask away)!
At TA you also get to see photos taken by guests and there is also a list of amenities. The Rates listed are not always correct ~ check the hotel webpage or call them ~ many times it is cheaper than listed.
Before paying for your room at check in ~ tell the lobby clerk that you want to view the room. Besides checking out the room for cleanliness and comfort ~ look at the pool, exterior areas, parking lot, etc., to make sure things are clean and safe.
If it meets your standards ~ then check in.
Check out Quality Inn Plaza ~ rates are reasonable and updated rooms are quite nice. There are small refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms.
I always stay in a Disney Hotel - usually upon booking a vacation they throw in a free Dining Plan. Also it provides free transport to all Disney locations.
My favorite place to stay is on the Boardwalk - I can walk to both Epcot and MGM.
On any vacation I would recommend booking the full week. I doubt there will be room at the last minute. Try looking up the hotels online. Websites like www.hotels.com will provide pictures and reviews.
Also a great Disney resource www.allears.net.
Enjoy your trip!
