This is the fastwest way for you to get to West 94th st. from JFK.
If you on the part of West 94th closer to Central Park West, take this route:
Take the airtrain from JFK airport to the Sutphin Boulevard stop on the E.
Get a Manhattan Bound E train, and take it to the 53rd St/7th Avenue Station.
Transfer to an uptown bound B train, and take the B to 96th st. When you exit that station, you will be on the corner of 96th st. and Central Park West, and then just walk down two blocks south and you will be on West 94th st.
If you are going to the part of West 94th st. that is closer to Broadway or is between Broadway and West End Avenue (right near the hudson river), take this route:
Option one:
Take the Airtrain to get the E at the Sutphin Boulevard Station.
Take a Manhattan Bound E train to the 53rd st/7th Avenue station.
Transfer to an uptown bound B or D train.
Take the B or D one stop to the 59th st./Columbus Circle Station.
Then, transfer to an Uptown bound 1 train, and the 1 stops at the corner of West 96th st. and Broadway.
After that, walk two blocks south until you get to West 94th st.
Option two:
Follow the same directions as above as to getting the E train. When you get the E, instead of getting off at the 53rd st/7th Avenue Station, get off at the 42nd st/Port Authority station.
Transfer over to an uptown bound 1,2 or 3 train.
Take an uptown bound 1,2, or 3 train to the 96th st. stop. As a note, the 2 and the 3 will get you there faster since they run express.
Then, get off at 96th st. and you will be there on the corner of West 96th st. and Broadway, and then just walk to blocks south to get West 94th st.
As for the hotel thing, can you specify what you mean by a good hotel in your opinion?
There are hotels all over NYC. Some people can consider one hotel to be good while another person won't like that hotel, and the same goes to how a person might find a particular hotel to be cheap while somebody else thinks the hotel is expensive. How do I get from JFK to west 94th street ? Can anyone suggest any good cheap hotels in New York city?
the best way to get to 94th street depends on two factors: where on 94th and what you are willing to pay.
option 1: airtrain to jamaica. lirr to penn station (service varies depending on time of day) but generally more comfortable and uncrowded. makes fewer stops. then subway up (AC by 8th ave or 123 by 7th ave) to 96th, which is a fairly large station for both.
airtrain $5
lirr $5.75 off peak, $8 peak
subway $2.25
--
$13 or $15.25
option 2: airtrain to howard beach. subway (A) to 96th. it's a fairly long (read:very long) ride all the way to 96th via subway, and can be crowded, although considerably cheaper
airtrain: $5
subway: $2.25
--
$7.25
of course, both of those options assume west side. you will need to transfer to a 456 for east side.
as for hotels, that depends on much more, where? how much is cheap? what defines good? etc...How do I get from JFK to west 94th street ? Can anyone suggest any good cheap hotels in New York city?
For a nice 4 or 5 star hotel in New York City at a reasonable price, I recommend trying a priceline bidding strategy to maximize your rebids and get the lowest price possible. See this article for details:
